photos like this make people assume Im a crazy cat Lady. Which I know Im not. Im more than happy with 2 cats I dont want anymore. Its hard enough getting cat hairs off my jackets with 2 cats- It wouldnt be possible with any more. I dont want to be scatty and covered in white cat hair.
But if it does happen and I end up alone with 100 cats then I want to look like the photo below- its great!!
But mine wouldnt be dolls it would be cats.
I dont like the big wooden puppet on the mans shoulder. I dont like how it leers over him. Im worried for the man but its nice he found a partner who shares his interests. I hope shes as passionate about the dolls as him.
This was in a shop window.
The rug is made out of all these pink petals so it looks like the tree above has shed its leaves onto the ground. Its not so clear in this photo (my camera is pretty awful). But I love bringing trees into the house. I love artifical plants and trees in the kitchen- it gives it an Italian restaurant feel. I saw a woman on 'come dine with me' have a tree with lights inside it by her dining table. so nice.

My Trip Down the Pink Carpet
Leslie Jordan in his one man show. what a great little man he is. He sauntered, he strutted, he swung those hips. His lifestory had me captive for the whole 90 minutes. He was brash and crude. He was saucy and rude. With his strong Tennesse accent and exaggerated facial expressions- I adore him!
It was actually quite an emotional show. I wasnt expecting it to be so heartfelt and so patriotic. As a gay man trying to express himself in Hollywood it was a real struggle for Leslie, back then it wasn't so easy to discuss sexuality. I hadnt really thought about this- about how hard it must have been. At the end of the show it was a real salute to gay men everywhere and I could feel the pride in the room.
Every so often Leslie would break into dance. He is a very short man (4ft 11) and just the sight of him jumping around like a jumping bean had me in fits of laughter. He is so hyper and yappy, like a jitterbig or a child after too much sugar. The gay anthems just made him dance- and he was quite the mover!
(I found the photo above online- opposed to taking it myself)
"The woman from my church had this baby and it looked like a pig. with its little frilly socks, you just didnt know what to say!"
"When I came down the stairs on christmas morning and saw that doll I just squatted on the floor and peed .I was so happy!"

My Current favourite film
I love this film so much. I love Jared Hess- my type of humor!
When I saw 'Napolean Dynamite' it was like nothing Id ever seen before. It was a new type of comedy, so awkward and so dated. When I was in canada I went to 'rogers'. 'rogers' is a videostore- I had to visit the video store and see what releases were excusve to Canada. That is where I found 'Gentlemen Broncos'.
We watched it that night on the little laptop- oh I loved it. Jennifer coolidge was in it- shes always great.
I love how dated these films feel. How particular the characters are in their descriptions of mundane events. The subtle acting- the bad clothes, the ugly brown colour palette, Benjamins crappy life, Judiths pastel dress designs and the 'epic' soundtrack.

Mabel is neutered
Today Mabel was neutered (spayed). when we left her in the vets I walked away and watched her little face poking out of the carrier. I went to uni and thought about little Mabel having her operation.
When we collected her at 4, she was fine! The vet said she was very sociable and enjoyed her day. She loved the attention.
When we took her home the other cat Toulouse started hissing at her -does he not remember her? does she smell of vets? poor mabel meatball

IDEAS- Thursday 17th
I really like these images as ideas for the blank walls. The first, not so busy but easy for the eye to follow from left to right.
The second- I really like. very busy and comical and with the selective colours (blue and red). And the third one just a watercolour of an English building. I think buildings and stages are quite nice on large walls
I love the illustrator Ronald Searle and would like the finished drawings to look similar to his
This poster for 'singing in the rain' is a lovely composition.
I like the colours and layout and the fact it is musical theatre
more quick sketch- 'My fair lady' ideas
maybe set the scene at the racecourse?
or have the covent garden landscape with Eliza in the left bottom corner.
could be nice on one wall, streetlamp in corner
some well-known musical characters?
I like this idea but dont want it to be cheesy

backstage: a performer peeking out from behind the red drapes
painted lights around edge
some drawings for the animation I am working on
a ballroom scene
walking madam
young lady

This is a watercolour streetscene I did last week- could be quite nice on a feature wall

'Baby Jane'
Bette Davis is alluring and fascinating- especially in 'what ever happened to Baby Jane?'. How did I go so long without seeing any of her films? I know my nan was a fan, but when I was younger such information seemed insignificant. Mr.skeffington- another favourite.
Im in love with this film. I tried drawing her- but those eyes, so hard to capture.

Toy Museum
Paper Theatres, puppets, dolls, teddys and rocking horses.
Alone in a room full of china dolls- for most people this may be daunting. Not I
I find dolls fascinating and am completly imune to any fear they may bring.
My mother has always collected dolls and I have grown up with them- scattered around the house in their satin bonnets and ribboned aprons
