Drawings and tea

Some new drawings of mine. 

The first one was done at the Art Macabre event Sketchy Séance. I love these events.

Second is done to celebrate turkeys. I watched a very sweet video of a turkey being stroked and wanted to make something to celebrate these brilliant birds (especially at this Thanksgiving/Christmas time of year when so many die).

Lunchtime talks with Wendy

My friend Sarah and I filmed a short sketch I'd written on the weekend. Here are some stills (a sneek peek if you will) of this piece!! My make-up is meant to be rather wild, Wendy is the type who is a little overenthusiastic with lipstick and blusher. Ive been there before.

Comedy Show!

I'm very excited to be working on two woman show with my comedy partner Kayleigh. We will be debuting the show at the Brighton Fringe festival in 2018!

Here are some of the photos from our fun photo shoot with my talented friend Sam.

 When Sam asked what we wanted for the poster I did some very quick doodles of the layout (below)

 Before we had our photoshoot this was the drawing I'd done (below) but as a poster it's much more fun to have our faces on it and  theres always a slight concern an illustrated poster looks like a kids show.

Dominican Mermaid

After spending so much time in the sea I was inspired to do a drawing of a mermaid. It was a quick drawing but I plan on doing more/spending more time on one

Summer Is A Coming

 This weekend we had a glimpse of the sun and it's left us wanting more.
At work when it's sunny I have the warmth of the sun directly on my back which is bliss. I also have the shard behind me- not bad eh?

My bedroom

My room was lacking fun so I decided to paint one of the walls white and illustrate something silly.
I chose a girl leaping in the air accompanied by a little feline friend.
After that I wanted to add more colour so added some red and gold/yellow hearts... it's not really like me to add hearts to something but I felt they went well. I'm not a heart type of girl usually I'd choose stars.
I decorated my window frame with ivy/trellis/plant patterns and now it feels more busy which I like.
Drawing on walls is lots of fun!! and as this image is one of the first things I see when waking, it immediately puts me in the right frame of mind for the day ahead. Surrounding yourself with positive, inspiring imagery is very important I believe and collecting/arranging such items is always a nice thing to do.

A drawing by my 4 yr old self

I found this drawing in my reception schoolbook, I must've been 4 when I drew it! I love the little grin on the sheep's face and how giant the animals are compared to the car!!

Violet hair

As October draws towards Halloween, the excitement of pumpkins and broomsticks ever increases. Ive been doodling with paint alot recently and my bedroom floor is scattered with drawings that are drying (much to my cats curiosity). Here is my latest female with violet locks

Lady Windermere's Fan

 

 

Here are some of my designs used in the programme for 'lady Windermere’s fan' at The Tabard Theatre. Directed by Linnie Reedman, this production opened last week with a 30s themed evening. Linnie's expertise in all things Oscar Wilde comes across in her adaptation of this classic and though I have yet to see the production at The Tabard I did catch it a few months ago at The Kings Head Theatre. It is a story that stayed with me long after I saw the play and filled with such brilliant quotes and life lessons. The 30s is such a visually inspiring period that designing the borders for my illustrations was most fun.

My bedroom

Since I have come back from Canada I have been trying to sort out my room, clear through some clutter and organize boxes ect. I painted my some walls white to make it more neutral but then I couldn't resist painting on the walls. I painted a silly sketch of me and my 2 cats and some inspirational words/quotes surrounding it. Around my mirror I've stuck tickets from events Ive been too and looking at these theatre tickets each morning makes me happy.

The English Eccentrics

The Opera is the perfect place to see and meet English eccentrics- these people are the best type of characters to watch and draw. This couple have been married for over 50 years but keep up their Friday night tradition of attending the theatre (come rain or shine!)

Dialogues des Carmélites - Royal Opera House

Today was our first rehearsal on the stage of the Opera House and with it an appreciation of how big this stage truly is. I thought I would post some of my sketches from my journal to show my musings on the project, from the first rehearsal back in January. Most of these sketches were quick drawings related to the story of ‘Dialogue des Carmelites’ and the divide between the peasants and aristocracy. Here is a nun, based on the theme of hope and devotion that has come across to me; much more so since seeing the live performance of ‘Salve Regina’. 

Also I have got to hear the beautiful voice of Anush Hovhannisyan and watch the incredible Anna Prohaska in rehearsals!!

Unicorn Bedroom Mural

I was asked to do a bedroom mural for my dear little friend Lola; the room is very small so I decided a small portrait would be ideal. The window is very much in the princess/castle style with the round shape and criss cross detailing so I planned to enhance this with some ivy creeping up around it. Lola loves unicorns so I took inspiration from the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ horse and some unicorn images on pinterest. The piece is not entirely finished as I plan to add a banner above with her name but other than that the mural is complete. It was a very quick job but most enjoyable!

 This illustration I did was based on a photo taken of me in Canada
