Western woman

I have been looking at so many images of Marilyn in Alberta, mori girls and western style canada- so I was inspired to make a drawing. This is just a quick drawing...but I will definatly do more detailed ones with backgrounds.

Marilyn in Alberta

So, Ive always liked these photos of Marilyn in the great outdoors. I always thought The backdrop of pine trees and mountains suited Marilyn's nature. Recently I discovered these photos were taken in Alberta, Canada. Marilyn took a holiday there between filming, and enjoyed posing with stuffed bears and Canadian mounties. Now living in Canada, these photos have a new significance for me and I enjoy them even more.

Let it all be animal, my life and death, hard and clean like that, anything but human... a lot I care, me with my red heart in the dark earth and my tattooed feet following the animal ways.

Sealions!

Last Sunday we were in Steveston and the seagulls were getting pretty loud.
They were swarming around a particular spot near the middle of the water.
Suddenly, a loud noise and two heads pop out from below the water
SEALIONS!!
what a loud noise they made
I think they were irritated by the seagulls
I was so happy to see them so close
in the wild!

Into The Wild

Tonight I watched the end of the film 'Into The Wild'. A truly beautiful film celebrating the grandeur and grace of nature. Living off the land, with no need for material goods,
being outside, roaming with horses, reading great literature, singing, breathing, living and relishing life. Being alone but not lonely. This film is based on the real life travels of Christopher McCandless.

On August 12, 1992, McCandless wrote what are apparently his final words in his journal: "Beautiful Blueberries."He tore the final page from Louis L 'Amour's memoir, Education of a Wandering Man, which contains an excerpt from a Robinson Jeffers poem titled "Wise Men in Their Bad Hours":

And I especially liked these words

"The mountains are dead stone, the people
Admire or hate their stature, their insolent quietness,
The mountains are not softened or troubled"

Mori Girl

I only recently discovered the 'Mori Girl' style and I just love it!
I found lots of images on pinterest and wanted to share them here

Bowen Island

Bowen Island
Over the Easter weekend (March 31st), we visited the small island ‘Bowen Island’. We got a ferry from West Vancouver, which only took 20 minutes. The island was small and quaint, with beautiful scenery and wooden cabins where we stayed for the night.
At night, the island was lit up by little lights around the shops and houses. We took little walks around the forests and saw plenty of skunk cabbage. The sun shone the whole weekend and we bathed in it happily. We also went fishing for crabs and drunk our first 'papst blue ribbon'

But still, Ive never stayed anywhere that has an actual wood pile outside
